Bug Undergraduate degree from Africa and Old too

Thank you so much for this exciting opportunity for people to learn and exchange meaningful information.
My question is going to be long so I ask for your patience ; it is also going to be unique because I haven't found it in anywhere in your website.
Point #
1. I have a B.Sc Chemistry from University of Nigeria GPA 4.11/5.00(3.48/4 US eqv.)

2. Two yrs work experience in industry (Quality control chemist) in Nigeria

3. 1-yr teaching experience ( high school math and chemistry)

4. 1-yr graduate assistant(teaching undergraduate lab ) position in Nigeria

5. 1-yr security job( Texas correctional facility) experience in Texas .

6. 1-year informal business experience in Houston, Texas
Helped a friend in an unpaid position to re-structure a near bankruptcy-business to profitability.

7. Studying for a PhD in chemistry (over 5-yrs graduate assistant experience-teaching) at Texas A & M University( no 1st author paper yet).

8. Tried running some personal businesses that never worked in the US( buying and selling over the internet)

9. Married with two kids

10. Will be almost 40 yrs of age by the time I get a PhD.

Two yrs into my PhD program I realized that I am as interested in Business and much as PhD in science. I wanted to combine my PhD with some business classes but I wouldn't get approval from my supervisor and I didn't want to quit my PhD for business school.

As I started looking for jobs that combine business and science(a job that delivers real time result with far reaching impact and with a short time too), I found the consulting job. It is everything I have been looking for in a job- exciting, business oriented, not boring, challenging etc and I have still got to use the analytical PhD mind on the job.

While going through a lot of sites, fora, I realized that there isn't anybody with similar background and baggage like me.

I like consulting job and will really want to do whatever is possible to get into consulting.

My questions are:

1. Do consulting firms hire people like me.

2. If they do, how do I present myself to compete favorably with standard applicants.

3. If they don't hire people like me, what suggestions do you have for me (internship is out of the options since my PhD supervisor will not approve of that).

I hope to hear from you soon.

thanks so much
